Hel-Cat II: The largest party fishing boat in New England offers deep sea fishing trips January through October. Custom built, Coast Guard inspected and certified, the 114’ steel vessel has state-of-the-art electronics for navigation and fish finding. Her spacious deckhouse features comfortable booth-style seating with restaurant and tackle stand on board. During late spring,summer and into the fall anglers enjoy the popular “Bankers’ Hours Special” trips which depart at 9 A.M. and return at 3 P.M. every day for Striped Bass and Bluefish. These fishing safaris run through the last weekend in October. For cold weather fishing enthusiasts, Hel-Cat II sails on Saturdays and Sundays, starting after the New Year’s holiday, for the winter species.

ON-THE-WATER FAMILY ADVENTURES

From exploring a legendary lighthouse to trawling for sea creatures, the whole family will love a journey aboard our floating classroom for a unique on-the-water experience. In the summer, step aboard the Enviro Lab for a 2 1/2 hour hands-on oceanographic research cruise. Or venture to New London's famous (some locals even say it's haunted) Ledge Lighthouse for the thrill of exploring the inner workings of this well known landmark. In the winter months, come aboard for a Harbor Seal Watch on Long Island Sound. All of our programs are conducted by professional marine scientists on U.S. Coast Guard inspected vessels.


OCEANCAMP

Science will take on new meaning as you roll up your sleeves, get your hands dirty and have fun at our 5 day, overnight summer camp. Camp sessions run Sunday through Friday for students in grades 5 through 12.

Sail Away on the Block Island Ferry to Old Harbor, Block Island. Enjoy a relaxing ride to the sand, surf and sun. Trip time is just under 1 hour.


This vessel is a 49 meter (approx. 160 ft.) wave-piercing catamaran designed by InCat Designs of Sydney, Australia. Formerly the vessel, Condor 9, it was built in 1990 and introduced into service in 1991 on the United Kingdom to Channel Islands service for Condor Ferries. The vessel has a cruising speed of more than 35 knots (40 mph) which will make it the fastest ferry serving Block Island and the mainland.


The vessel will be equipped with sleek, modern airline-style seating on two enclosed air conditioned passenger decks. An outside passenger deck will also be available on the vessel for viewing the scenery on the trip between New London and Block Island. There will be deli and beverage services aboard and televisions on both interior passenger levels.


The vessel is equipped with a revolutionary T-Foil ride control system to ensure smooth travel in all sea conditions.
